Rebecca Hurst is president of Kinetic.PR, a firm focused on delivering public relations services to the high-tech start-up community. She leverages 30 years of computer-industry media, analyst and public relations experience in providing positioning/ messaging, strategic direction and results-oriented execution. Her broad industry expertise includes enterprise software, computer systems/peripherals, security, semiconductors/ICs, communications, and venture capital.
Prior to founding Kinetic.PR in July 2006, Rebecca was a senior vice president in the San Francisco office of Blanc & Otus where for 13 years she contributed to the success of such companies as Agile, Business Objects, Documentum, Entrust, Fujitsu Software, Identix, Hitachi Data Systems, Interwoven, Sybase, TIBCO, and Vitria. Rebecca began as a Unix industry analyst at International Data Corporation. She later turned to journalism to become a senior features writer at Computerworld and a West Coast editor for VARBusiness Magazine. Since 1989, Rebecca has focused on the strategic planning and execution of public relations campaigns, beginning with corporate positions at Oracle and Acer America.
Rebecca also has written for UNIX World and contributed to a book on computer solutions for psychologists. She received a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
